Target Audience maakt de onzichtbare logica van sociale mediaplatformen tastbaar. Dullaart koopt nep-Instagram-volgers en vertaalt die fictieve profielen naar handgemaakte gevilde vlaggen. Het publiek — of preciezer: het idee van een publiek als datapunt — is hier het eigenlijke onderwerp. Op platforms als Instagram wordt het publiek niet gezien als gemeenschap maar als verkoopbare doelgroep. Dullaart legt bloot hoe onze identiteit en ons bereik als gebruiker worden gekwantificeerd, verhandeld en ingezet als grondstof voor de aandachtseconomie.
These handmade banners are physical realizations of fake follower profiles, quilted on flags of different countries, with a female and a male side. Dullaart shows how identities are capitalised and what worrying implications this has, for instance, when buying followers, an American male follower is worth more than an Iranian female.
